DEAR RAYMOND

Raymond, my dear, dear friend died just a year ago…  He was actually more than just a simple friend….. He was one of the people whom I let to know me.. at the time…. some million years ago…. and so far the only one that dared to pop the question… with so many words…

Year ago, I just got back from my vacation, went online, among dozens of messages, one was the most important. Graham said Janet's brother just died. I was shocked for a while, didn't know what to say, I never knew he was ill in the first place. I was never told.

I remember him as a guy you just simply love, who enjoyed life at the most, loved, sorry adored bikes, his last 30 years, that's how long I had known him, were spent on the wheels, cycling around all over England,

As I was let know, his funeral service was just the same way his life was lead:

"…All his mates from all over Kent came on their bikes .When we came into the church We got them to play Ride like the wind .by Christopher cross and going out Bicycle race by Queen .Play them I am sure you will think they are very appropriate. I am sending you Dannys speech at the service which the preacher  said he would have a job to follow .."

and so I did, whenever I listen to these two songs, I dedicate them to my dear Raymond

Danny's speech:

A few words about my Uncle Ray.
Where shall I start:
Kind, generous, eccentric, load, loner speak his mind, troffer, character certainly a character
Let’s start with food,
Could he eat two dinners no problem sometime 3 or 4.
Deserts well chocolate he could eat this to Olympic standard
Could turn up monthly or six monthly, if we had a family event and there was a chance of good tuck in he would be there.
He would probably say something that might offend someone but never out of malice. He would then reaper weeks or more likely months later and laugh about it.
If you needed a hand with a job or task he would always be there especially if you could feed him!
His real passion and his life was cycling;
When I was 12 he rode past whilst I was playing in the park.
When I said to him that he didn’t stop to talk. He said he had been riding not stop from Plymouth, like you do!
30 years on he told me he was going camping in Yorkshire, so he cycled up there like you do in couple of days, got up there and it was too wet to camp so he fancied guest houses.
Back he cycled  to Folkestone to drop his tent back of in Folkestone and then cycled back to Yorkshire, like you do.
He travelled to Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Again travelling on his own in to bush or forests for weeks.
He certainly was a Character and lets be thankful to characters, people like Ray,  because wouldn’t  life be boring without them.
Finally when your out in a café or restaurant and your contemplating that large lump of chocolate cake, go for it, because Ray would have.
Well miss you!

Dear, dear Raymond I still do miss you!
RIP my dear friend

Gracias a la vida que me ha dado tanto....La ruta del alma del que estoy amando.... Que si ya no puedo verte, Por qué Dios me hizo quererte, Para hacerme sufrir más?..... Jednog dana pročitah jednu knjigu i cio život mi se promijenio...."You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy."
